Jaime Donnelly, Activities and Alumnae Coordinator
As Activities Coordinator at New Directions for Women, Jaime connects one on one with each patient to meet them where they are at not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well. She helps them connect with the great outdoors, challenging themselves daily and gaining confidence by learning the tools to overcome past fears. Our activities range from yoga on the residential campus, hikes along the California coast or scenic local trails, Pilates, functional movement experiences, ropes courses (think fun, challenging obstacles and ziplines led by a fear specialist from the OC Ropes Course), Equine Therapy and stand up paddleboarding in the Newport Bay. Each day at New Directions for Woman is a new opportunity to try something new and grow. Her favorite part of the role is the diversity of our activities. There is something for everyone! Jaime enjoys the opportunity to see our patients step outside their comfort zones, knock down personal barriers and feel a sense of peace and freedom perhaps they never knew existed. The smiles say it all!
As Jaime move closer towards a decade of growth in her own recovery, she shares “it becomes more apparent that although a quality treatment experience was essential, remaining sober is more than just the 30-90 days at the facility.” Jaime is the liaison for New Directions for Women alumnae, maintaining contact with women over their sobriety journey, and ensuring that they have a supportive community after treatment. Jaime and the team at New Directions for Women truly feels that continuing care, support and engagement are critical elements to maintaining recovery. “Don’t settle for ‘mediocre sobriety,’ recovery is a life-long process, and I am committed to spending time with you along the way – during and after your stay at NDFW!”
Jaime is a graduate of Chapman University in Orange, CA with a degree in Leadership and Organization Studies. She has also received numerous fitness certifications, most notably being a Certified Group and Personal Trainer through NASM and AFAA; 200-hours YTT through Yoga Alliance/YOGAWORKS; CPR/First Aid Current; World Paddle Association and BOGAFiT Global Master Instructor, just to name a few. In her free time, Jaime spends all the time she can with her young son Oliver in nature, travels, gets her feed in the sand and ocean, and makes sure to move each and every day!
