Sharifa Haidari Sharaf, Lead Trainer/Medical Liaison
Sharifa has been part of the New Directions for Women family for over twelve years! She began her helping journey by receiving her bachelor’s in social work from the Western Sydney University in New South Wales. Here in California, Sharifa facilitates the multiple daily tasks patients need to complete to move forward in their recovery journey. Sharifa is the medical liaison between New Directions for Women’s patients and all medical care partners, including OB-GYNs for patients with high risk pregnancies, acupuncturists, chiropractors, and our own detox physician, Dr. Rafael Penunuri. Sharifa also assists patients in completing all social services paperwork including FMLA and disability. She is also responsible for training other care coordinators in all aspects of their work, from Sigmund to facilitating room checks to transportation of patients to appointments.
She is the mother to two beautiful children and enjoys bringing her motherly energy to the women transforming their lives at New Directions for Women. Her favorite thing is to see babies come home from the hospital after their sober mothers give birth!
