New Directions for Women hosts community events to bring the Orange County recovery community together, to reduce the stigma that surrounds substance use disorder, and celebrate our alumnae, care partners, and volunteers. We are proud to host several 12-Step and self-help meetings to provide hope to community members, whether they have been through our treatment program or not. Each event listed below is open to the community, unless otherwise stated. For more information on any event, fill out our contact form with any questions!

Virtual Family Support Group for Addiction Recovery

September 21 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 6:00 pm on Monday, repeating indefinitely

The epidemic of addiction is a critical issue during COVID-19 (and beyond); an appropriate holistic response to this pandemic must include resources for addiction treatment and recovery – including family members and concerned loved ones. Calls to SAMHSA’s Disaster Distress Helpline (1-800-985-5990, a 24/7 national hotline dedicated to immediate crisis counseling) saw calls jump 338 percent between February and March. Finding community and support is more important now than ever.

At New Directions for Women, we have served women and families since 1977. Over 5,000 families have sought recovery at our program. We believe in healing the whole family system to break maladaptive ways of coping with addiction.

Anyone struggling with a loved one’s alcohol or drug use is invited to our new weekly Family Support Group, which is fully virtual. It is free to attend and open to everyone, whether their loved one has gone through treatment at New Directions for Women or not!

Mondays 6:00 – 7:00 pm PST
Meeting ID: 942 9082 4912

Please email us at contact@newdirectionsforwomen.org to receive the password. Note: the password is necessary to enter the meeting.

The first twenty minutes will cover family education on the disease of addiction, including the disease model, denial, co-dependency and its origins, brain chemistry, and communication. There will also be an opportunity for Q&A, and sharing of stories in this safe, confidential community. This group will be co-facilitated by Lynette Singleton, CADC II, Case Manager and Babbi Anderson, Life Coach and NDFW Community Outreach. Between them, they have over seventy years of experience in working directly with family systems and helping them attain recovery.
