A CCAR Recovery Coach Academy – 5-Day Intensive Peer Recovery – Coach Training Program
The Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) Recovery Coach Academy is a 5-day intensive Peer Recovery Coach training program. You will learn the skills to support and mentor others who want to start or sustain their long-term recovery from addiction.
What Is A Recovery Coach?
Anyone interested in promoting recovery and helping others overcomes barriers and obstacles to recovery can serve as a peer recovery coach and the Recovery Coach Academy will prepare you for that role. Peer recovery coaches provide non-clinical services designed to help individuals and families sustain their recovery.
Who Can Be A Recovery Coach?
- credentialed addiction professionals
- treatment center support staff, volunteers and alumni
- staff from behavioral health and government agencies
- representatives from inpatient and outpatient centers
- and sober living homes
- individuals, family members and advocates of recovery

Lorie Obernauer, Ph.D.
Lorie is an addiction recovery life coach and educator and founder of Treatment Professionals in Alumni Services (TPAS),a national organization
whose mission is to collaborate with and support individuals and agencies
that provide long-term recovery services. Lorie is in recovery from addiction
and a myriad of life choices and is grateful to support others on their
Sara is the Clinical and Quality Improvement Assistant at New Directions for Women and has been a part of their team for 4 years. With 7 years sobriety, she serves her community by supporting and taking on a leadership volunteer position with the Crossing Church in Costa Mesa. The Crossing offers Recovery Support Groups and honors those from all Walks of Life. Sara has been dedicating her time there to help fellow addicts celebrate their recovery!
